Role of a Mentor in Barriers to Learning

Job of a Mentor in Barriers to Learning Fundamentally dissect and examine the job of the guide in dealing with an understudy who isn't accomplishing skill in a portion of their training results and isn't exhibiting a fitting information base. Inside this task I will attempt to clarify the job of the guide and understudy feature the various boundaries to learning, fundamentally dissect diverse hypothetical practices to empower learning and have the option to hypothetically support the procedures that I plan to incorporate as a coach should I experience an issue with an understudy being not able to support their insight with training, Duffy and Hardicre (2007), recommends that tutors locate that one of the most testing parts of the coaching job, is when understudies are not accomplishing the normal degree of execution. This article isn't concentrating of how to bomb an understudy from the nursing course, yet to talk about why an understudy might be experiencing issues in indicating the coach that they are skillful with a portion of their training results and the understudy being not able to show the guide that they can relate their hypothetical information to the training. The coach is significant in being one of the first to generally perceive battling understudies, and need to survey, plan, and assess how these snags can be expelled, survived, made up for, or oversaw. This ought to be, recorded, the type of an activity plan formulated by the understudy and the coach maybe with guidance from close down tutors on the ward, or whenever required outside sources, for example, the inability counsel, or the instructive connection teacher for the arrangement. Seemingly the three primary territories that can hinder an understudy capacity to learn are the guide, the understudy and the position condition. The position itself has may have some fixed requirements as far as condition, room size, just as some powerful concerns, for example, learning openings, outstanding task at hand, time limitations, commotion, temperature. The term guide is gotten from a character in an old Greek play, The Odyssey. In 1978 Levinson et al portrayed the center segments of the guide as a model and instructor as well as an educator, support, designer of abilities, engineer of insight and host, (refered to in Oliver and Endersby 1999). The NMC (2006) depicted a tutor as a person who has accomplished the information, abilities and fitness required to meet the characterized result in stage 2 of the formative system to help learning and appraisal practically speaking, refered to RCN toolbox (2007), along these lines the coach has the mutual upgraded information base and key aptitudes which is vital in supporting the understudy in accomplishing capability in the necessary aptitudes of a nursing, this is reflected in the measure of study hall hypothesis, and ward based getting the hang of being a half part, of the understudies time for the three years pre-enrollment. Strategy records, for example, Standards to Support Learning a nd Assessment in Practice (NMC, 2008a) show the abilities that an expert needs to exhibit and the measures that an expert should work to accomplish the status of tutor. Lloyd Jones et al (2001) have recommended three center explanations behind giving ward based figuring out how to understudy medical attendants are: The procurement of abilities and information Use of hypothesis to rehearse Proficient recognize plan and ‘enculturisation’ Mentorship in this way has came to mean, Haggard et al, refered to Nick et al (2012), a coordinated equal connection between progressively experienced and learned employee and a less experienced one. As indicated by Cahill (1996), refered to in Morton-cooper and Palmer (2000), the understudy tutor relationship travels through three distinct stages during the span of a situation these are: Commencement stage Working stage End stage One of the various interesting points during this paper will be the evaluation procedure and how this should be reasonable and reliable for the understudy and permit them to grow exclusively to accomplish a degree of fitness in the aptitudes required to turn into an expert medical caretaker. Before an understudy even beginnings on a ward the coach ought to plan for the understudies appearance inspecting the wards invite pack, guaranteeing that it is exceptional and that the data held inside it keeps on being legitimate and pertinent. The welcome pack ought to incorporate the arrangement ethos, points, learning results substance, and how these are to be evaluated. Also the welcome pack recognizes all the procedures that occur while the understudy is embraced the situation and bolster components accessible to the understudy. This ought to permit the understudy to attempt any pre situation perusing, and shows to all understudies that the position pays attention to teaching understudies from the earliest starting point. The guide ought to likewise set up their day of work example to oblige the understudy. Mayall et al (2008) embraced an examination investigating the encounters of understudy medical caretakers and practice guides and found that 10% of understudy attendants fe lt that during a portion of their positions they had ‘never’ been designated a tutor, and of the individuals who had been assigned a named coach, 24% felt that they would have gotten a kick out of the chance to invest more energy with them. Subsequently guaranteeing that the arrangement work for the situation is set up, helps the understudy to frame a positive conclusion for the learning condition, and relationship with the tutor, from the earliest starting point improving the odds for absence of competency to be tended to ahead of schedule. During the primary meeting that the tutor has with the understudy, in the main seven day stretch of arrangement, the coach should audit the advancement of the understudy from any past situations and experience that they have picked up. The coach additionally has a chance to audit the input given to the understudy from the past guide. The coach can audit the abilities book to discover capabilities not accomplished in past situations, and feature learning openings inside the position that the understudy might be missing at this phase of their examination that the understudy can pick up during the arrangement. This could basically be because of the past situation not having the option to give a learning opportunity because of case burden, time, and sort of position, or this could have been a result of the past mentor’s mentality. Dear (1986), refered to in Walsh (2010), portrayed four kinds of poisonous tutors that can contrarily influence a student’s capacity to accomplis h capability these are Avoiders Blockers Destroyers Dumpers The understudy has a duty set out by the direction on proficient lead for nursing and maternity care understudies to assume liability for their own picking up, working securely for the individuals they care for, under the management and backing of a certified medical caretaker NMC (2010). This obligation ought to permit the understudy to straightforwardly speak with the coach featuring any shortage in their training or their under sticking hypothesis which should be focused on so as to get equipped, these adapting needs could be correspondence challenges and instructive prerequisites, for example, should an understudy has English as a subsequent language, dyslexia, dyscalculia or hearing issues can be an immense obstruction as it can prompt distortion of center speculations, or input from the guide. This in a perfect world ought to be examined at the underlying meeting; anyway the understudy may not feel sure inside the relationship to uncover minor issues right now however the tutor may have a natural inclination from the proof gave by the understudy from their past position which could confine the student’s ability for accomplishing competency in their hypothesis or practice. The tutor ought to have arranged for the underlying meeting and assume responsibility for the constant appraisal of the student’s viable learning and have the option to interface this to supporting hypothesis, by making a situation plan for the understudy to survey. The understudy and the tutor should both add to a learning agreement to which the two of them join to what the understudy and the coach hope to sensibly accomplish before the finish of the position. Demonstrating how this is to occur and any adapting needs of the understudy, and when the down to earth and hypothetical proof ought to be developmentally looked into and surveyed. When the establishments of the situation desires have been concurred then the developmental piece of the student’s position during which the tutor ought to figure an assessment of the student’s competency essentially and hypothetically, in view of proof either saw learning, conversations, talked input structures and so forth. During the ‘initial phase’ of the position the coach has an obligation to encourage an expert connection with the understudy. It is significant that when the understudy is in the ward with their coach that they feel a feeling of belongingness as perceived by Levett-Jones Lathlean (2007) as this can ‘enhance a students’ potential for learning and impacted their future vocation decisions.’ The relationship can there for move from the ‘initiation phase’ to the ‘working phase’, Cahill, (1996). During the ‘working phase’ criticism is a significant factor for both the understudy and the guide. The guide may get input from associates, talked situations, past positions or the understudy which will help them in sizing up the student’s competency to the necessary degree of study. The understudy, themselves, needs to get visit, clear productive input, on their advancement, from their tutor. It is one of the NMC necessities that the tutor gives input to an understudy as frequently as it is expected to manage execution (NMC 2008). Precise criticism will urge understudies to ponder their learning and gives a chance to distinguish how they can improve their presentation (Elcock and Sharples 2011). This should happen away from patients or ot

Grief in Ode to Death - Literature Essay Samples

Charlotte Smith’s late poem ‘Ode to Death’, published in 1797 in her collection of Elegiac Sonnets, draws on the idea of accepting death as a ‘friend’ (l.1) rather than fearing it. The ode carries a deep sense of desperation and sorrow, as it alludes to the grief endured by Smith in her own lifetime; predominantly referring to the passing of her daughter, Anna Augusta de Foville. This marks Smith’s capacity to manipulate her sorrow as a poetic construct, as the speaker acts as a substitute for her own identity. By dwelling on the ‘torturing pain’ (l. 7) of life, the poet succeeds in presenting mortality as somewhat desirable personifying it as ‘Misery’s Cure’ (l. 21). This allows the reader to reflect on its ability to provide relief to those in suffering. The speaker’s willingness to embrace death is evident in the opening line of the poem, as the stress on the word ‘friend’ (l. 1) elicits attention to itself. Despite the ode’s general use of iambic pentameter, here emphasis is placed on the first syllable of the line meaning the image of death as a companion is more prominent. The abrupt nature of the exclamation ‘Friend of the wretched!’ (l.1) is also significant, as it hints at the despair of the speaker, who appears to be eagerly awaiting death. The caesura in lines 1-3 of the first stanza adds to this sense of urgency, as it produces a jolty rhythm. This weight of exigency is demonstrated throughout the poem, as Smith’s use of ecphonesis reinforces the speaker’s restlessness and inability to withhold their sudden outbursts of emotion: ‘Ah!’ (l. 3), ‘O Death!’ (l. 19), ‘Oh!’ (l. 21). Similarly, Smith incorporates a series of rhetorical qu estions in order to create a fast-pace verse this is particularly noticeable in the third stanza, where the simultaneous use of three questions reveals the impatience of the speaker: Sharp goading Indigence who would not fly,That urges toil the exhausted strength above?Or shun to the once fond friend’s averted eye?Or who to thy asylum not remove,To lose the wasting pain of unrequited love? (ll. 11-15) A feeling of bewilderment is created, as the constant interrogations reflect the turbulence of the narrator’s distressed mind. The use of anaphora in lines 13-14 also intensifies the uneasy mood, meaning the speaker’s agitation grows more apparent, again producing a sense of haste. Whilst to an extent the speaker’s behaviour appears slightly chaotic, at the same time Smith conveys a sense of measured logic behind their thoughts, as the continual focus on life’s miseries facilitates the justification of death. The poem therefore suggests that it is wiser to die rather than force oneself to endure constant hardship: [] -Ah! Wherefore fears to dieHe, who compelled each poignant grief to know,Drains to its lowest dregs the cup of woe? (ll. 3-5) The rhetorical question allows Smith to rationalize death, as the speaker presents it as an escape from ‘each poignant grief’. The regularity of the quintain rhyme scheme throughout the poem also maintains a sense of uniformity. In this regard the poem takes the form of a typical Horatian ode; the tone remains balanced and poised as the speaker evaluates the arguments in favor of accepting death. The rhyming couplets at the end of each stanza also build on this sense of stability, as the form remains consistent and neat. The overall effect is comparable to that of the Petrarchan sonnet; where the internal couplets create the effect of rounded thought and reflection. The vindication of death as an ally is further demonstrated through Smith’s hyperbolized description of life’s afflictions: Fear thee, O Death!- Or hug the chains that bindTo joyless, cheerless life, her sick, reluctant mind? (ll. 19-20) The jarring effect produced by the dissonance in line 20 is reflective of the speaker’s attitude of disgust towards life, as the repetition of the harsh ‘c’ creates a jolty, violent feel. The sibilance through the repetition of ‘less’ adds to the aggressive tone due to the sharpness of the sound; hinting at the speaker’s frustration. Smith’s use of imagery also builds on the idea of death as a form of relief, as the narrator’s metaphorical image of life as ‘chains’ implies that death grants liberation from a miserable, restricted existence. However, the tone in these lines differs from that at the beginning of the stanza, where Smith refers to the death of her daughter Anna, who died during childbirth in 1795. The use of apostrophe leads the voice to become much softer, contrasting with the generally bitter and harsh tone of the poem: Can then the wounded wretch who must deploreWhat most she loved, to thy cold arms consigned,Who hears the voice that soothed her soul no more, (ll. 16-18) The smooth sibilance throughout these lines creates a more subdued mood, leading to a slight lull in the verse. This means a more melancholic feel is produced, as Smith uses the voice of the speaker to reflect on her own family misfortune; as well as the loss of Anna, she had also witnessed the deaths of three of her twelve children during childhood. The sonnet therefore calls into question the preeminence of motherhood, and according to Jacqueline Labbe, allows Smith to explore the ‘ramifications of maternal grief’. Smith continues to present death as desirable by contrasting the distress of life with the supposedly peaceful act of dying: Would Cowardice postpone thy calm embrace,To linger out long years in torturing pain? (ll. 6-7) The use of the word ‘Cowardice’ here has a rather forceful effect, as the stress of the meter falls on the first syllable; producing an explosive sound. This creates a harsh, almost accusatory tone; the speaker appears frustrated by the feebleness of those who refuse to openly accept death. The sharpness of this word juxtaposed with the softness of the phrase ‘calm embrace’ emphasizes the welcoming nature of death ; as the repetition of ‘m’ and ‘c’ constructs a soothing sound; conveying an image of hugging Death itself. It is also to be noted that Smith exaggerates life’s sorrows through the use of alliteration in line 7, as the repetition of ‘l’ in ‘linger’ and ‘long’ draws out the vowels to create a slower pace, hinting at the prolonged pain of life. The idea of incessant misery is reinforced through the sonnet’s internal rhyme for example in ‘linger’ and ‘years’, and ‘long’ and ‘torturing’ (l.7). Here the repetition of the vowel sounds ‘i’ and ‘o’ drags out the length of the line, causing the reader to slow down, hence reflecting this idea of perpetual suffering. This is noticeable throughout the poem; ‘lowest [] woe’ (l. 5), ‘who too’ (l. 9), ‘aid [] vain’ (l. 10), ‘once fond’ (l. 13), ‘wasting pain’ (l. 15), ‘wounded [] who’ (l. 14), ‘thy [] consigned’ (l. 17), ‘life [] mind’ (l. 20), ‘angel [] save’ (l. 22). The assonance created as a result contributes to the poem’s overall sound of despair, as the repeated emphasis on vowels produces whiney, eerie undertones and continues to draw on the idea of endless grief. Smithâ⠂¬â„¢s manipulation of meter is also significant in terms of reflecting pain. Despite the most part of the poem being in iambic pentameter, the last lines of stanzas 2 5 are in iambic hexameter. Here the additional two syllables are accentuated, as the altered cadence draws attention to the last word of each stanza. Likewise, this is indicative of the prolonged agony of life, suggesting that death is the solution to the unnecessarily long torture. This fixation on suffering is again influenced by the severe grief endured by Smith herself, as before facing the deaths of four children, at a young age her own mother passed away meaning she was raised by her aunt from 1753. Loraine Fletcher argues that Smith’s works ‘increasingly focus on the middle-aged rather than the young’, therefore the voice in ‘Ode to Death’ resembles one such as herself; meaning ‘the reader who is aware of her age and personal history identifies the author with the charac ter’. The poem’s portrayal of death as a remedy to life’s sorrows is reflective of the author’s personal experiences with regards to grief, as the verse discusses the ‘ills that chase’ man (l. 8) and a life plagued with misery. However, it is interesting to note that the third person narrator is somewhat ambiguous in the opening stanza the ‘wretched’ figure is referred to as a male; ‘He’, but then in lines 16-20 the character moves to ‘she’, before becoming a gender neutral ‘they’ in lines 21-23. The peculiar inconsistency of the speaker allows Smith to disguise herself, yet still achieve a sort of ‘self-revelation’ by adapting the voice to fit her own ordeals. ‘Ode to Death’’s romanticization of mortality and pessimistic attitude towards life has consequently led editors to see just one narrator in the poem, and that is the poet herself.

Three Roads To One Hero Essays (1510 words) - Beowulf, Geats

Three Roads To One Hero Throughout the two epics, Beowulf, and Gilgamesh, and the novel Grendel, we see certain heroic characteristics of the main characters. Although Beowulf, Grendel, and Gilgamesh all come to a heroic end, they differ in way in which they came to that end. In Beowulf we read of a great warrior who cares about nothing but honor and his people. In Gilgamesh, we see a man who comes to a realization of his mortality, and then does all he can to overcome that weakness. Finally, in Grendel, we see a monster that was born in a cruel world, and comes to a cruel ending. Throughout the epic poem of Beowulf, we not only read of the heroism of Beowulf himself, but the guile of the antagonist, Grendel. By the fifth chapter, Beowulf is showing a characteristic that was vital to a Greek hero. He is boasting of his accomplishments. He tells of how he once fought a serpent in the open ocean. This might not seem to heroic, but you must attempt to become an archeological reader to begin fully understanding why this is so heroic. During the fist century of this millenium, one of the many things that scared people, and continues to do so today, is the unknown. Beowulf braved the unknown on not only land, but also where man has never belonged. He braved the unknown in the ocean. Grendel throughout the poem is, however, shown in a different light. He is a monster. He is a descendant of the first murderer, Cain. He kills simply for sport. He relishes in the blood of mankind. He is a monster who knows no bounds. In Grendel however, the point of view of the reader has changed. We now read from the point of view of the monster. We see how he has been born into a world where he understands next to nothing, and does not even have the comfort of a true mother. He can talk to no one, save for a dragon that sees everything, past, present and future, and he is alone in a world of humans. There is no place of refuge where he can escape the world of hate that he lives in. He is something that is unknown to humans, and is therefore unwanted, frightful, and must be either eliminated or banished form view. Although in both of the epics, one an English and the other a Mesopotamian, we read of heroic qualities of one main character, and through that main character the ideals of that culture as a whole, in Grendel, we read of an outcast, who is killed simply because he is an enigma to the people. This is where these three stories break down, in the way, not only in which they become heroes, but the way in which the author accomplishes this feat. In both Beowulf and Gilgamesh, we read of people who are highly esteemed, and emulate everything that those respective cultures hold dear. In Grendel, we see the cynicism of the twentieth century, and we read of all the ways in which our society and culture has become incongruent with that which we say we hold dear. In Gilgamesh, we read of a man who is stronger than all that are in the land, and his adventures to prove that to the world. He is a symbol of everything that his country and culture regards as praiseworthy. Not only, though, is he a physically strong person, but he is also given the gift or blessing of being able to reason. He is a man of not only sound body, but also of a sound mind. In addition to knowing how great and powerful he himself is, Gilgamesh also knows when to stop (sometimes). When he is fighting Enkidu, he discovers that his foe is his equal. Therefore, he does not become over-prideful, and deny that someone could be as great as he himself is, but he makes one of the best decisions that can be made by man. He makes his enemy his friend. The greatest interpretation of these three stories comes not only in seeing how well they are congruent, but also how they begin to differ when

Role of the US Government in the Acceleration of the Advancement of Essay

Role of the US Government in the Acceleration of the Advancement of Computers - Essay Example The electronic computr has been approximately for over a half-century, but its intimates have been approximately for 2000 years. However, only in the last 4 decades has it changed the American society which resulted from U.S government policies towards the advancements of computrs. From the 1st wooden "abacus" to the latest high-speed "microprocessor chip", the computr has altred nearly every aspect of people's lives for the bettr. The outburst of "World War II" twisted a desperate need for computing capability, particularly for the military. New weapons' systems were created which required trajectory tables and other indispensable data. In 1942, John P. Eckert, John W. Meauchley, and their associates at the "University of Pennsylvania" detrmined to build a high-speed electronic computr to do the job. This machine became recognized as "ENIAC", for "Electrical Numerical Integrator And Calculator". It may well multiply two numbers at the tempo of 300 products per second, by finding the value of each product from a multiplication table stored in its memory. ""ENIAC"" was consequently about 1,000 times quicker than the preceding generation of computrs (Dolotta, 47). "ENIAC" used 18,000 standard vacuum tubes, engaged 1800 square feet of floor space, and used about 180,000 watts of electricity. (Ceruzzi, 36) The input and output was done by punched-card. The "ENIAC" was very complicated to program because one had to fundamentally re-wire it to execute whatever task he required the computr to do. It was, though, well-organized in handling the particular programs for which it had been planned. "ENIAC" is normally accepted as the 1st victorious high-speed electronic digital computr and was used in various applications from 1946 to 1955 (Dolotta, 50). Mathematician John von Neumann was very fascinated in the "ENIAC". In 1945 he undertook a hypothetical study of computation that confirmed that a computr could have a very straightforward and yet be able to perform any kind of computation effectively by means of appropriate programmed control devoid of the need for any changes in hardware. Von Neumann came up with incredible ideas for methods of building and organizing practical, fast computrs. These ideas, which came to be referred to as the stored-program technique, became essential for future generations of high-speed digital computrs and were across the world adopted. The 1st gesture of modern programmed electronic computrs to take benefit of these improvements appeared in 1947. This group incorporated computrs using random access memory (RAM), which is a memory designed to give almost steady access to any particular portion of information. This equipment used punched-card or punched-tape input and output devices and RAM's of thousand-word capability. Physically, they were much more compact than "ENIAC": some were regarding the size of a grand piano and required two thousand five hundred small electron tubes. This was fairly a development over the earlier machines. The 1st generation stored-program computrs required considerable maintenance, usually attained 70% to 80% reliable operation, and were used for 8 to 12 years. Typically, they were programmed directly in machine language, although by the mid-1950s progress had been made in several aspects of advanced programming. This group of machines included "EDVAC "and "UNIVAC ", the 1st

Global Studies Paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Global Studies Paper - Essay Example In many ways, the authors promote a type of behavioral analysis in the affairs of international law and governance, rather than the traditional abstract thought and philosophy which is used generally to mask the motivations of the agents involved. Aseem Prakash and Matthew Potosk take this methodology even further in their analysis â€Å"The International Organization for Standardization as a global governor: a club theory perspective† by examining the organizations and groups that actually control local governance through game theory and focusing on â€Å"clubs† as a means through which individuals organize for particular goals locally. (Prakash and Potosk, 2010) The authors use the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) group as a paradigmatic example of this activity and as a model of a â€Å"global governor in the area of international product and management systems standardization.† (Prakash and Potosk, 2010) In critically reviewing both articl es, it is evident that Avant, Finnemore and Sell

Infancy and Early Childhood Paper Essay Example for Free

Infancy and Early Childhood Paper Essay I believe Piagets theory of cognitive development best explains the cognitive development both in infancy and early childhood. His theory is explained by a theory of cognitive organization called schemes. Schemes are the actions or mental representations that organize knowledge (Santrock, 2008, p. 94). According to his theory, schemes change with age; in other words, they are action-based (motor patterns) at first and then gradually change to a mental (thinking) level. There are several key terms that explain Piagets process of developmental change; those include adaptation, assimilation, accommodation, organization, and equilibration. Sensorimotor stage is the first of the Piagets theory of cognitive development. It lasts from birth to the about 2 years of age, where awareness of the world is limited to what can be known through sensory awareness and motor acts. Furthermore, Piaget divided the sensorimotor stage into six sub-stages: 1) simple reflexes; (2) first habits and primary circular reactions; (3) secondary circular reactions; (4) coordination of secondary circular reactions; (5) tertiary circular reactions, novelty, and curiosity; and (6) internalization of schemes (Santrock, 2008, p. 96). †¢Reflexive Schemes: this is present in newborns. Initially, the infants actions are coordinated through reflexive behaviors, such as rooting and sucking. But gradually the infant produces behaviors that resemble reflexes in the absence of the usual stimulus for the reflex (Santrock, 2008). †¢Primary circular reactions: it develops between 1 and 4 months of age. In this stage, infants begin to adapt their reflexes to their environment; simple motor habits are centered around own body (Caulfield, 2001)†¢Secondary circular reactions: it develops between 4 and 8 months of age. The focus of infants exploration shits to external events. Infants develop awareness that objects continue to exist even when not in sight at about 8 months of age (Caulfield, 2001)†¢Coordination of secondary circular reactions: develops between 8 and 12 months of age. Infants begin to demonstrate intentional behavior and anticipate events; they coordinate separate actions to achieve desired goals (Caulfield, 2001). †¢Tertiary circular reactions: develops between 12 and 18 months of age. Infants reach an advanced level of proficiency; they begin to explore properties of objects through novel actions (Caulfield, 2001). †¢Internalization of schemes: develops between 18 and 24 months of age. Their ability to represent the external world internally begins to develop, also called as symbolic representation. Also, deferred imitation, the ability to retain and copy a representation of an observed behavior, begins to develop (Caulfield, 2001). I also believe Piagets theory best explains the cognitive development in early childhood as well. His Preoperational period, the second stage of Piagets theory of cognitive development lasts from approximately 2 to 7 years of age. In this age, children begin to represent the world with words, images, and drawings. Not only that, they begin to form stable concepts and embark on reasoning (Santrock, 2008, p. 145). Also, egocentricism (inability to distinguish between ones own perspective and someone elses perspective) and magical beliefs also begin to play a role in childs cognitive development. There are different sub-stages of the preoperational stage. Symbolic function sub-stage is the first sub-stage of the pre-operational thought. In this stage, the child has the capability to mentally represent an object that is not physically present. This stage occurs between the ages of 2 and 4 years of age. The Intuitive Thought Sub-stage, the second sub-stage of preoperational thought that generally occurs between 4 and 7 years of age. In this stage, children are tempted to ask many questions. In other words, one of the most prominent words for the children around this age is why. There are many similarities and differences between the Piagets theory of cognitive development that explains infancy and early childhood. Similarities †¢Both the selected theories that I believe best describes cognitive development in infancy and early childhood come from Piaget. †¢Both theories have stages (Sensorimotor and preoperational) and are further divided into sub-stages. †¢Both theories rely on the assumption that infants and children actively construct an understanding of the world. †¢Both theories give a time frame of when the stages and the sub- stages occur†¢Both theories have limitations. Differences †¢Sensorimotor stage deals with infants from birth to 2 years of age and Preoperational stage deals with early childhood that generally occurs between the ages of 2 and 7. †¢Sensorimotor is the stage one of the Piagets theory of cognitive development; whereas preoperational period is stage two of his theory. †¢The limitation of the sensorimotor stages rests on the accuracy of the timing of the events that Piaget mentioned; whereas the limitation of the Pre-operational thought rests on the concepts such as centration and conservation. Therefore, in this paper, I have considered Piagets theory to explain cognitive development in both infancy and early childhood. I have also considered the similarities and differences between the two theories. References Caulfield, R. A. (2001). Infants and toddlers. Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice HallSantrock, J. W. Trying Martial Arts   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Martial Arts are not a good thing to know. It gives you a false sense of superiority. Which makes you more aggressive than you would be normally would be. With this aggression you would most likely go out and start fights. You would always be mad and want to hurt something. Martial Arts are not a good thing to know.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  On the contrary, in martial arts you are taught to control your anger. You are taught not to let your feelings interfere with your skills.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Martial arts encourage violence. It allows people the opportunity to pick on other people who don’t know the art. It gives the one who knows it an upper hand against everybody else. If the wrong people learn this art we could all be in trouble. They would go around terrorizing everything and body.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The first thing you are taught in whatever art you take is that you should never use what you know unless you have no choice. In this art there is no such thing as the wrong kind of person, all people with enough training are able to know right from wrong. It helps define lines between authority figures and citizens. It also teaches you to respect you r parents and elders more.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  You are more likely to hurt someone if you are trained in an art. When you get in a fight you are going to either seriously injure the other person or even kill them. Knowing these types of arts is something that should have been lost in is history, it has no place in today’s society. It only causes problems and teaches us to hurt each other. Martial Arts shouldn’t be considered self-defense but more like a weapon to kill.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Yes you are more likely to hurt someone if, and only if, you are provoked into a fight that is unavoidable. This is exactly why you are taught right from the beginning that you do not use it. But if it comes down to it you are trained to have self-control and to know how much force is necessary to talk the other person down.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Martial Arts teach people that fighting is the way to solve all problems. By giving the skill to fight to people they will think that they can win an argument buy fighting and not talking. It promotes people to hurt rather than heal and makes arguments a scary thing to have.

Controversial Businessman And Political Figure Donald Trump

Controversial businessman and political figure Donald Trump has just announced his entire presidential campaign up to this point to be a fluke. While he has not dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination, Trump has stated he will recant certain statements made about those of Middle Eastern and Mexican background. â€Å"I fooled you all. I’m not actually going to build a wall! That’d be stupid. I’m very intelligent. I’m the intelligentest, actually. I attended multiple Ivy league universities. They let me in because I had the best words. Anyway, the point is, America, I’m not racist! It was just a UUUUGE social experiment. I’m just a really good businessman with even better hair.† After firing his wig and revealing his admittedly natural luscious locks, Trump went on to deliver his true political platform. In a shocking statement, Trump admits he is â€Å"really proud of the women and the gays for trying so hard.† One of his main campaign focuses will be women’s rights; Trump specifically cited his eventual goal to implement equal pay for equal work. â€Å"What I’ll do is, I’ll print money called ‘lady bucks’ that are each worth 77 cents. That way, we can pay women 77% of real workers’ wages and trick them into thinking they are getting paid the same amount! You see where I’m coming from, right?
